Look, I get it. Social media is great, especially Facebook who is like the mothership of online communication. It has connected people in unimaginable ways, but sometimes nothing beats some good ol’ face-to-face, person-to-person interaction. As this Oklahoma man might tell you, some things are just worth telling in-person.
Two years ago, Billy McCall decided to end a three month relationship with a woman, who has chosen to remain anonymous. Shortly after their split, the woman found out she’s pregnant with his baby and decided to notify McCall through a Facebook message . And of course, because we are talking about technology and it can suck sometimes, McCall claims he never received the message, until two years later that is.
When he finally found it, McCall immediately reconnected with the woman in hopes that he could meet his now two-year-old daughter. Unfortunately, since McCall never responded to that Facebook message, the woman decided to put the child up for adoption and has been living with her adoptive family ever since she was born.
According to The Stir, McCall is currently fighting for guardianship of his child in the Oklahoma Supreme Court. And so far the courts agree with the new dad, stating that he wasn’t notified properly of his ex-girlfriend’s pregnancy. But will he get guardianship of his child? It’s too soon to tell.
But guys, REALLY? This is life changing information that deserves to be told in-person, or at the very least by phone. We all have one, right? You know, that thing that lives inside your back pocket? Yes, that thing.
All joking aside, as crazy as this story may be, let it serve as a lesson to us all that sometimes face-to-face interaction is important and sometimes absolutely necessary — especially when it comes to telling someone they’re the father of your baby.
Honestly though, where’s that dislike button when you need it.
