Less then a month away! Whether you are planning to buy a Halloween costume for your kids or you have Pinterest filled visions of a DIY masterpiece, you better get started soon! Here are some fun DIY Halloween costumes for kids that are perfect for 2014.
Frozen
The hype still hasn’t died down from this Academy-Award winning flick, especially with Halloween and the Holidays right around the corner. Anna and Elsa costumes from the store have been flying off the rack, but you can imitate Elsa’s frozen dress at home with a little DIY-savvy. From sewing patterns to adding blue and white tulle to a white long-sleeved leotard, there are plenty of ways to get Queen Elsa’s look.

For boys, Olaf is easy to do in all white clothes; white face paint and a stuffed felt carrot for the nose. Sven the reindeer is another easy and fun costume to make. Purchase or make reindeer antlers from cardboard, and put on a cozy brown wool sweater, brown corduroy pants and boots. This outfit is great, because it will keep your kid warm at night while trick-or-treating.

Guardians of the Galaxy
The superhero hit movie of the summer offers many great costume ideas. Your little guy can be a handsome Starlord with a leather jacket, t-shirt, dark cargo pants and boots. For an incredible costume that will win any costume contest, you can make this Groot costume. It would take a lot of time but the materials are accessible and lightweight.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
This retro series got a reboot this summer and makes a great costume. You can make a cool turtle shell by painting a large aluminum pan. Bonus points if you can get friends in on the game to be Leo, Mike, Raph and Don.

Bag Of Jelly Beans
Halloween is all about candy, so this costume idea is great for the sweet tooth. First, wear a colourful long-sleeved top and leggings, then get a large clear plastic bag and cut out holes at the bottom for the legs, making sure your child can walk. Blow up a bunch of small coloured balloons. Step into the bag and put the coloured balloons into the bag. When full, take the tops of the bag and tie around the neck or shoulders, adorning with a cute ribbon.

UPS Guy
This costume idea is easy to make and clever! Simply wear brown shirt and pants, a brown hat and get fabric paint to imitate the UPS logo. Have him carry a little box (that can be used to collect candy), and instead of saying “Trick or treat”, have him say “What can brown do for you?” or “Package!”
