I will admit it, once I saw Jackson at the party that night I couldn’t focus on anything else. I was consumed by him. Every move, how he looked so intently at the person he was talking to, the tilt of his head in concentration, his hand in the back pocket of his jeans, his head thrown back in laughter, the gentle touch of his fingers on my back as he moved past me. I couldn’t get enough.
As the crowd began to thin and the guests began to say their good-byes I made my way to Jill’s room to grab my coat. My new Burberry python trench sitting amidst a pile of vintage and plain black coats stood out as a reminder of my visitor status here. I did the rounds, hugging my new friends, waving farewell with promises to call and see everyone soon. I avoided meeting Jackson’s eyes and hugged him awkwardly as I made my way to the door. After a quick chat and hug from Jill I found myself in the hall and then outside making my way back to my hotel.
The evening was cool on my face as the blush of feelings and memories from the evening overwhelmed me. I ached at the thought of leaving him there without a minute alone to talk. But there were too many people. Too many eyes on us. It was not the right time.
The streets were busy with the rush of people heading home after a night on the town. A light snow began to fall. Lost in thought I hadn’t noticed the sound of his foot steps behind me until he was there, quietly walking in step, looking straight ahead.
“You left.” He said matter-of-factly.
“I did.” I replied.
We continued to walk silently side by side for another block. Then he stopped and turned toward me.
“I miss you.” He breathed, his eyes looking desperately into mine, his hands gripping me tightly.
“I know.” I reached out and put my hand on his chest. “You have no idea. I’m just so overwhelmed. And confused. Can we talk? I mean, somewhere. Not outside in the cold.”
We made our way through the streets. But it was 2am and there were very few places open aside from the glaring lights of a local 24 hour donut shop. So, I did what I knew I had wanted to do the whole night but now had an excuse to say the words.
“I’m staying in town. We could chat there?”
He looked at me and there was what felt like an eternal pause. Then he nodded, grabbed my hand and we started walking, my wedding ring pressing uncomfortably between my fingers.

Greetings! I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this website? I’m getting fed up of WordPress because I’ve had problems with hackers and I’m looking at options for another platform. I would be awesome if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
