Well, we have reached the end of the first week back to school. Are you still hanging in there? Are you still managing to get the kids out the door in morning with breakfast in their bellies and smiles on their faces? Good! That’s what I like to hear!
Your kids are starting in new grades and making new friends. But what about you? When was the last time you made a new friend?
I know this may seem like a completely insane question, but unless you’ve started a new job or moved to a new area recently, making new friends as an adult can be really difficult. There are a lot of reasons why adult friends are harder to find. As kids, school gives you the perfect opportunity to meet lots of people and spend tons of time with them. As an adult you need “something” to connect you with another person, and it can sometimes be hard find people and find that “something” to bring you together.
It isn’t exactly a smart move to run up beside a woman jogging with a stroller and launch into a conversation about running and kids and hey do you want to be my new bff? Good way to scare people away.
So, as moms, what can we do? How do we meet people and, even better, how do with meet other like-minded moms?
In this digital age, we do a lot of our socializing online. We chat via WhatsApp, text messages and Facebook. We stay up to date with our friends on Twitter and Instagram. We even meet our significant others on eHarmony, Match.com, and maybe even Tinder. It is the norm now.
Enter Mom Meet Mom, a “fun online destination where moms [can] meet… that takes the stress out of making mom friends”. Like eHarmony for moms, you set up a profile and are matched with local moms with similar interests, schedules, families and personalities.
Set up playdates with your kids or cocktail nights just for you and girls, Mom Meet Mom might be the solution to all our mommy friend woes! And while Mom Meet Mom has been exclusive to America since January 2014, it is launching in Canada.
“Since our initial beta release we’ve received a flood of inquiries from Canadian moms interested in our services so we couldn’t be happier to bring our service to moms throughout Canada,” said Christa Terry, co-founder of Mom Meet Mom.
I can’t wait to give it a try and expand my mommy circle!
