Reddit is a very special place. It’s a hub of some of the internet’s best, worst and downright bizarre. All of which make for some great entertainment because sometimes you get stories like this one.
Redditor by the username Thr111 was patiently waiting in line at a Burger King when a mother and her “little monster of a child” lined up behind him. Now before we go any further you should know that Thr111 wasn’t having a great day. It was the lunch hour rush, he was standing in a never ending line up, he had a headache coming on and all he wanted was a burger. You just know it’s not going to end well for someone.
As Thr111 waited in line, the child behind him started having a huge tantrum, yelling things like, “I want a F****** PIE,” while his mother just stood there. “This kid was out of control, screaming, punching his mother throwing around a gameboy whenever something didn’t go right in the game,” Thr111 wrote.
The line wasn’t getting any shorter, the child wasn’t getting any calmer and all Thr111 wanted was his burger. So after putting up with the commotion for five minutes, Thr111, decided to speak up to the child’s mom. “Immediately she gets up in my face telling me I can’t tell her nothing about raising her child and to mind my own business. I nod and turn around, shes still yelling at the back of my head,” wrote Thr111. All this, while the child continued causing a scene, crying out for pie.
Five minutes later when Thr111 finally made it to the front of the line (there was a trainee on cash during rush hour by the way, brilliant idea BK), instead of purchasing his original order of a burger he decided to buy pie. Not one, not two, not three – but all the remaining pies Burger King had left. All 23 of them.
After getting his order, Thr111 started to walk away but suddenly heard the mom yell, “what do you mean you don’t have any pies left, who bought them all?” The Burger King trainee pointed to Thr111.
“I stand there and pull out a pie and slowly start eating as I stare back at her,” Thr111 wrote, who then walked away before the woman could come over.
Revenge sure does taste sweet. Or does it?
Are you Team Pie like many other Redditors who praised Thr111 for teaching a mom a lesson in parenting, an impulse we’ve all wanted to act out on at one point or another. Or are you Team Mom and believe this mother-son duo was judged too quickly. Some redditors pointed out that maybe the ill-behaved child had a developmental disability like autism that Thr111 didn’t know about. Or maybe they were caught having a bad day. Can’t we all have one bad day?
Which side are you on? My vote goes to the Burger King trainee.

Thr111 is mean spirited and selfish, and we can’t know why. Can’t possibly know what the situation was with the child/mum, or Thr111s. Maybe the child would be given his dinner first (all kids–adults too–autistic or otherwise freak out when they’ve gone past their food point and just need to be fed SOMETHING… pie or otherwise. Maybe Thr111 was past his food point. Or was previously abused, had awful mean parents who did the same to him. Lesson to all to be kind to Mothers and kids who are having a moment — they can be isolated and not reflective of the rest of the days AT ALL), and to the Thr111s out there who could use some loving and teaching in patience and compassion.

I hope Thr111 chokes on his pie. I think it’s clear who the child in this situation is.

I’ll admit… I laughed… but more because I’ve SO had the bad day that the guy was having… but so mean – and I feel bad for the mom…
