We all love our pets. To us, they are the best dog, cat, fish or hamster around. But why restrict their celebrity status to your own home? Why not show the whole world how amazing your furry friend is and also join in the fight against animal cruelty!
If you have a playful pooch at home, the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is giving you the chance to put your pup in the spotlight. The OSPCA is searching for their Canine Grand Marshall to lead the 2014 Friends for Life! Walk, presented by Nutrience.
With the aim of raising funds and awareness for the protection and care of all animals in Ontario, the Friends for Life! Walk will take place in 17 communities across Ontario on Saturday, September 20th and Sunday, September 21st. Every event will host their own fundraising walk and will include fun activities for the pets, and their owners of course!
Does your dog have what it takes to lead Ontario in the fight against animal cruelty? Find out by pitching your pooch on the Ontario SPCA Facebook page. Sign up for your local Friends for Life! Walk and submit a photo of your pet, the story behind your pet (is he a rescue, does she know a cool trick?), and tell us why you think your four-legged best friend would make the perfect Grand Marshall.
The top ten most “liked” stories will receive a gift basket and be entered into the selection process for the grand prize. The grand prize winner will receive a professional photo shoot and become the next poster pet for Friends for Life! Walk in 2015!
The winning pet will also be invited to a special “crowning ceremony” at the Ontario SPCA headquarters in Newmarket. This ceremony will kick off the weekend of fun and festivities on Saturday, September 20th at 9:00am.
If your dog is chosen as the Grand Marshall he or she will get to lead the Newmarket walk with Tanya Kim of CTV’s ETALK, the Honourary Provincial Chairperson for the Friends for Life! Walk, along with her dog and best friend, Miss Louise.
The Humane Society and the Ontario SPCA have been protecting animals since 1873, through their educational programs as well as their fundraising initiatives. If you want your pet to take centre stage as the Grand Marshall or you just want to help out animals in need, be sure to visit www.friendsforlifewalk.ca or www.ospcawalk.ca to register for a walk in your neighbourhood!
This September be a part of the solution; take steps to support animals in need across Ontario… literally!
