THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED. THANK YOU FOR ENTERING!
Boston Pizza is celebrating being in Canada for 50 years and as part of the celebration we’ve got a $50 gift card for one lucky Urbanmoms reader!
Executive Chef Michael Gray has brought back some of the all-time favourites like Popeye Pizza and Sombrero Pizza, with some delicious new dishes like the Hail Kale Caesar Salad. But make sure you save room for the amazing Chocolate Doughcano! We recently had a chance to fill our tummies and couldn’t get over the variety!
Boston Pizza is a family favourite enjoyed by many for birthday parties, after soccer and hockey practices and everyday meals. The concept of the restaurant is casual family dining with a sports bar experience under one roof. So everyone can enjoy a great meal while watching the big screens. Hello, tennis and soccer fans this summer!
Boston Pizza Fun Facts!
- Did you know that the first Boston Pizza was started by Gus Agioritis, a Greek immigrant in Edmonton? The first restaurant opened in 1964 he then grew the restaurant to 17 locations throughout Western Canada. Today there are more than 325 restaurants from coast to coast.
- Gus’s goal was to focus on franchising. One of the first franchisees was Jim Treiliving, an RCMP officer at the time.
- There are more than 100 items on the menu including Health Check options.
- Boston Pizza is now Canada’s #1 casual dining restaurant form small town to suburban areas and prime urban locations.
- The menu also includes GlutenWise options including pizza crust and pasta.
- The Boston Pizza Foundation has created Future Prospects in 2014 to support youth across Canada in partnership with organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters, Kids Help Phone, JDRF, Live Different and other programs that mentor kids to reach their full potential.
Contest closes at 12:00 pm (EST) noon, on August 7th.
Good Luck!

I should have been more clear that is a money grab on the corporations and food industries’ part by purchasing these “Health Checks” to mislead consumers to buying their products.
I understand the need to raise money for charity, however they were not totally innocent in doling out the “health check” symbol that misled consumers.
bruce says
I wouldn’t call a charity money-raising project a “money grab”, Kim. But it’s good that that flawed project was indeed canceled
Kim says
I am quite surprised you would try to promote the “Health Check” menu options, since it has been proven to be nothing more than a marketing scam, money grab for the Heart & Stroke Foundation and misleading consumers into thinking they are eating healthy. Then again, there is not much healthy about Boston Pizza or any place that would promote and sell something as ridiculous as a five-tier pizza cake. Also, as an update, the “Health Check” program was disbanded a month ago due to controversy and criticism by nutritionists, dieticians and healthcare professions.
The next time you may want to promote something that has been given the “Health Check” seal of approaval, you may want to take a look at these, first: http://www.cbc.ca/marketplace/episodes/2008-episodes/hyping-health
