Canadians are trying to eat healthy and including more fruits and salads into our diets. But did you know that even healthy foods can be acid-rich, and that our modern acid-rich diet is a risk factor in tooth wear? I recently attended an event catered by top Canadian health and wellness expert Rose Reisman, that proved this point. Even healthy foods can lead to acid wear.
Only a dentist can see the early signs of Acid Wear; weak, thin, transparent or see-through, yellowing teeth and dull anamel. Loss of tooth enamel can’t be reversed. Once it’s gone, it’s gone for good.
What are the factors that can contribute to acid wear?
- high consumption of acidic food and drinks like fruit, fruit juices, wine, carbonated beverages, vinegar-based salad dressings
- high frequency of acid challenges, or prolonged contact time with individual acid challenges
- history of gastric reflux
ProNamel toothpaste helps strengthen tooth enamel, rebuild weak spots and protect teeth from the effects of Acid Wear. It’s the number one dentist recommended brand to help protect enamel from the effects of everyday acids and has a low abrasion formulation to keep softened enamel stronger and resistant.
So, if you introduce ProNamel into your dental health regimen, you can continue to enjoy the delicious acid-rich foods like the plums and lemon juice in this delicious recipe provided to us by Rose Reisman.

To make the salsa In a nonstick skillet sprayed with cooking spray, cook the corn on medium-high heat for 8 minutes or just until the corn is dry and beginning to brown. Place it in a serving dish. Stir in the remaining salsa ingredients.
Either on a barbecue or in a nonstick grill plan sprayed with cooking spray, grill the salmon on medium-high heat for 5 minutes per side or just until medium done (10 minutes per inch of fish thickness). Serve the salsa overtop of the fish.
