We’re all familiar with the iconic Snap, Crackle and Pop of Rice Krispies cereal, so the urbanmoms.ca team was happy to team up with Kellogg’s to try out NEW MultiGrain Krispies, a high source of fibre. 50 lucky members of our Go2Girlz panel of product testers tried out NEW MultiGrain Krispies with their families, and then shared their opinions with us.
But what’s new and different about MultiGrain Krispies? First, you’ll notice that they’re four times bigger than Rice Krispies (because they have so much good stuff packed into them). And because they’re made with whole grains, they’re a high source of the important nutrient fibre. With each serving containing four grams of fibre, each serving delivers 21 percent of the recommended daily fibre intake for one to three year-olds, and 16 percent for four to eight year-olds. And we think that’s a pretty good start to the day.
But what did the Go2Girlz think of MultiGrain Krispies cereal when they tried it? Overall, their feedback was very positive. Most testers reported that their children loved the flavour and new bigger size of the cereal. And that made the moms happy, because they felt confident about feeding their children this new, high fibre cereal from a trusted, tried-and-true brand. The only drawbacks very few of our testers noted were matters of personal preference – one or two of our panel members did not enjoy the flavour, and a one was disappointed that the cereal is not organic. In the end, almost every one of our testers said they’d recommend MultiGrain Krispies to a friend (in fact, Rebecca, a mom of 2 and Go2Girlz panel member, brought some MultiGrain Krispies to work so a coworker could give it to her children to try!). And nearly all of our testers said they’d buy MultiGrain Krispies again themselves.
Here’s what some of our testers had to say about MultiGrain Krispies:
I like that the fibre content is higher in MultiGrain Krispies than in any other cereal for children. I also like that this cereal is much lower in sugar than most cereals for children. – Rebecca, mom of 2
It’s made with whole grains so it’s definitely a healthier choice than a lot of cereals, and kids really like the taste. – Jennifer, mom of 1
You definitely don’t need to worry whether your kids are going to like them or not…because they’re going to love them…and they’re nutritious. – Heidi, mom of 2
It is a very good choice to feed my little one. It tastes and smells great, with fiber, multigrains and low fat and he likes it! He is a very fussy eater, but loves cereal. – Debra, mom of 1
They’re larger than regular Krispies so they “snack” well. – Julie, mom of 2
I asked my 6 year old what he would rate the product out of 10 and he told me 20. I was surprised by his enthusiasm. He drained the bowl with no nagging from me to hurry up and eat. – Shonna, mom of 2
Interesting approach to a tried and true product that everyone is familiar with. – Alice, mom of 2

Why can I only get Kellogs- Multi-grain – Rice- Krispies in a honey flavour in Toronto Canada?

I have to say, I am really surprised by all the positive comments and feedback this product is getting. I mean I am glad that most people like the taste, and size and texture, but what about health?
Just because this product has “some” fiber doesn’t immediately qualify it as some “health” food. There really are so many better ways to get one’s fiber, and I am not talking about All Bran or other similar products. How about a real grain in its wholesome, natural form and add some fruit to it?
Like I said, I am glad people like it for the various qualities, but I think in this day and age where obesity and various diseases are such a problem, we need to be looking much closer at the food we eat.
If interested, I have dissected the nutrition of this cereal here:

I bought these after seeing them here on the sight and I was really disappointed. They have twice as much sugar as the original, taste/smell a little off and get sticky with milk. I don’t think we will be buying them again.
SN says
There is a load of added sugar in this compared to the original!

My 5 year old son is already a die hard fan of the original Rice Krispies but I thought that getting him to consume this new MultiGrain cereal would be most difficult. To my surprise he was the first to yell…”Can I have some more please?” What a sigh of relief. Before the box was empty he was already requesting that I go out and get a box. Everyone in the house really enjoyed the cereal. My 12 year old son said the only thing that bothered him about the cereal was that it reminded him of maggots. Kids!

I thought my daughter would love it, but she does not like it. I was very surprised!
She loves cereal with sugar but not this. She said that there was way to much sugar in it. It makes a great finger food snack, though, but not with milk. I do not like sugar in my cereal either. I will not be buying this product.

Hello!! My family and I all tried the new Multigrain Krispies cereal. Love Love Loved it. Even my ‘fussier than most’ son loved the taste of the Krispies cereal. Never mind that they are good for you. I really appreciated that they are so high in fibre. It’s hard to find a ‘kids’ cereal that is so high in fibre and multigrains these days. My older son is fond of eating cereal as a snack after school so knowing that he is also getting all things good for his growing body, well that’s just a bonus. Definitely adding this one to my shopping list.
MH says
My 3 year old loves it! She keeps asking for more.
I am pregnant now and I cannot stop snacking it too.
I love the fact that it is high in fibre and low in sodium and sugar. This is a perfect option for breakfast and snack for the entire family!

We tried this cereal the day it arrived in the mail. My kids loved it and finished the box quickly as they each ate a bowl (or two) a day and my daughter took some with her, to eat as a snack, after hockey and dancing. I have to admit, I was a bit put off by the appearance of the cereal in the bowl but it is a nutritious cereal that my children enjoyed so I can overlook that issue.
Debra Bashford says
My little one really liked them, but they were too sweet for my taste. They are nice as a snack right out of the box, but I would limit the amount he has.
Stacy says
My family eats a lot of cereal, and we like all of the Kellog’s Krispie varieties (Rice Krispies, Vanilla Rice Krispies, Cocoa Rice Crispies, and Crispex….we have tried them all) so we were all very excited to try the Multigrain variety. I liked that the flavour was not overly sweet, but when you eat the cereal with milk it turns soggy and tastes pastey. Because of that, 3 of us did not enjoy the cereal with milk, but my 4-year-old didn’t mind. I am interested in making squares out of the cereal to see if that works out well.
Kathy says
My daughter took to them right away. I found the size to be almost bigger than the regular kind. Since my daughter is a dry cereal eater (does not like milk with her cereal) I found them a great snack for on the go and between meals.
Kim says
This cereal is a keeper. Great taste and I don’t even have to make up stories for my son to eat it!
Rosana Richardson says
We tried the cereal an we really enjoyed them. My husband has never liked rice krispies so he wouldn’t tried them but my son and I liked them quite a bit. A bit sweeter that the other brands we tried but still a good snack option
Victoria says
Love it! Love it! Love it!!!!!

This is a new product which everyone in my family loved not to sweet perfect size.and loaded with nutrients and fiber it is a great choice which i think everyone will make at the launch of this product
Christina says
I thought this cereal was a great change from all the horribly sweet children’s cereals that are pushed on our kids daily! The Whole grain is wonderful and my kids loved the size.
My eldest daughter (14 years old), is not a fan of honey, so she didn’t like the cereal! The other 3 kids (12, 9 and 5) loved it – Even ate it straight out of the box as a snack!
I do wonder if it would have tasted just as good with even less sugar??
Keep working on it Kelloggs! 🙂
Julie says
i had one official comment posted above as one of the official testers and i was kind of disappointed that the negative comments aren’t even shown. yes, i said they do “snack” well (good for small fingers) but once you put milk on them it’s a whole new ball game. it’s like eating paste, they immediately go soggy and the amount of sugar in them is too much for me to consider them being healthy (7g per serving)
i’d consider these a treat, not a snack since sugar is the 3rd ingredient listed. i’d rather have my family eat bran buds (same sugar and 4x the fibre as this product)
i also forgot to mention in my official review that i was quite disappointed in kellogg’s tag line “moms just know”. i think we have moved on from being june cleaver stay at home moms…maybe “parents just know” would be more appropriate.

We all loved this product. All my 4 kids from ages 3.5 to 12.5 love this cereal! We received the box on Monday and there’s not much left in the box with all 6 of us trying it!:) I’ll be looking out for this product which is high in fiber and low in sugar in the grocery store! I’ll definitely recommend this great product to friends and family!:)
Rosalia says
we all liked them. the added nutrition is great, though they are sweeter than regular rice krispies. they are also great for snacking like other posters have said.
Rachel says
My family and I liked them at lot. They taset better then the original
Shonna says
I’m shocked how much my 6 year old loves them. A bowl for breakfast and a snack pack dry in his lunch. He LOVES them. I like them too! Although I would say they are nothing really like rice krispies.
Maria says
My kids have never had the original rice krispies & just love the mulit grain one. This is the 1st cereal they will actually eat bowls of. I’ve tried some of the fruit cereals & both my boys prefer the rice krispies. I have even made rice krispie squares with it & they are delicious. I love the that cereal itself is much larger than the original.
Carolyn says
My son (5) ate the cereal right out of the box! He loved it…..probably because it was sweeter than regular Rice Krispies! They tasted delicious, and we can always use the higher fiber in our diet. We all missed the “Snap, Crackle, Pop” however, when we added the milk. As one other mom mentioned, they would definately make a great snack-on-the-go.
Crystal says
I have to say that my kids were a little skeptical at first about trying them and weren’t sure about the size of the cereal itself but once they tried it they really liked it! Not only do they like to have it in the morning for breakfast but they will go into the box and grab handfuls as a snack afterschool! We will definately reccomend this to our friends and family! Thanks!
Daniela says
This product was a great surprise! It tasted so good, I was actually shocked that it was the Krispies brand. Great for parents & kids alike. We also like the bigger size of the cereal. Stayed crunchy longer in milk & was a joy to eat. Box did not last long in our household.
Candace says
We loved these and will definitely be buying them again. Thanks!
Clare says
MultiGrain Krispies were nutritious and delicious! My family loved them– much more than the regular kind and I would highly recommend this cereal to friends, family and other mothers!!
Lily says
I really enjoyed these multigrain rice krispies, and my son absolutely
loved them! The taste is lovely and lightly sweet – just enough
sweetness for the kids but definitely not too sweet. They also make a
great snack dry because they are nice and big for finger food.
hollie says
I tried these months ago when they sent them out to some families to try. My son and I loved them. I myself like them better than the normal ones, they are sweet but not overly sweet like some childrens cereals. 🙂
