Well, we might have finally found it. That is, a baby food available at grocery stores that measures up to homemade. Sweetpea Baby Food is new on the market and was recently tested by our urbanmoms.ca testing panel.
Lifelong friends, Eryn Green and Tamar Wagman, conceived Sweetpea Baby Food in the summer of 2004. As a new mom, Tamar and her husband (a trained chef) were experimenting with unique food combinations and freezing them in ice cube trays. Wanting to spend more time with her son and less time in the kitchen, Tamar searched for an equally healthy and delicious product on the market, with little success. Inspired by the lack of options for parents, Eryn and Tamar had a “light bulb” moment and…Sweetpea Baby Food was born!
As you know, we won’t feature any product on urbanmoms.ca that isn’t tested and approved by our panel. When we approached Tamar and Eryn they were confident that their product would measure up. Our testing panel agreed! They felt that this was an exceptional product. All of them loved the fresh, organic ingredients and the bright packaging. They liked the fact that each individual cube in the tray was sealed so you weren’t forced to expose the whole package once it was opened. Our panel agreed that this premium product is a great option for busy moms looking for a quick, healthy option. Here are some of the panel’s comments:
My overall impression of Sweetpea was quite positive. The packaging is excellent – very colorful and it appears to be a healthy product. The cubes were easy to access and prepare for each meal. My 10 month old, Ella, liked the banana/blueberry and I was able to incorporate the broccoli into the meals. Again, overall a very user friendly healthy product that is good to have in the house to complete her meals.
~ Rebecca, mom to 10 month old Ella
Sweetpea was the first baby food I gave my 6 month old daughter, Rylan. Having two older children I am very busy and don’t have a lot of time to prepare homemade food. I was impressed by the quality of the food and the ingredients. Rylan loved the banana/blueberry! I found the ice cube tray packaging great. I just wish that individual cubes could be more easily removed as I found it a bit tough to remove just one. This is a fabulous, guilt free product!
~ Jennifer, mother to Liam, 6, Connor, 4, and Rylan, 6 mths
Steven is nine months old. He eats both homemade baby food and commercially prepared baby food. Steven loved the taste of both Veggies and Chicken and Banana/Blueberry. However, he ate six cubes per meal which was half the tray. It would be great if it came in a 24 pack and if the cubes were more easily removable. I tried the food too and it tasted great!
~ Deborah, mom to 9 year old Jonathan and 9 month old Steven

Hi Marie,
Oh can I relate! My daughter is 3 and is still VERY picky. My advice is keep trying but don’t worry about it too much. My daughter didn’t really eat baby food until she was almost 9 months. As long as she continues to grow and your doctor is aware, you should be OK.

I can’t get my 7.5 month old to eat anything – cereal, veggies, fruit, you name it – we’ve tried ’em all! Got any advice on how to get her to eat?
