We’ve had a lively debate happening in our house this week, and it has absolutely nothing to do with Canadian Senators or Toronto’s mayor. The great debate is when is it too soon to start preparing for the holidays?
My husband’s work put Christmas lights up last week, and he’s ready to tackle our home décor too (since he’s the one up on the ladder, I empathize with his desire to finish before the snow falls). My kids are traditionalists (!) and are adamant that we shouldn’t be putting up decorations, taking photos for holiday cards or playing my season playlists until after December 1st. I fall somewhere in between. I love the Christmas season and adore how my house looks when it’s all gussied up in its festive finery, so I’d like to enjoy it for longer than a few short weeks, but I’m not ready for holiday baking and all those parties.
While we continue to debate when the appropriate time for holiday decorating begins, I assure you that it’s not too early to start your holiday shopping. And it’s wise to plan how to stretch your shopping dollar and maximize your earning potential with AIR Miles rewards miles.
Use your American Express AIR MILES Credit Card alongside your AIR MILES Collector Card at participating AIR MILES Sponsors and earn reward miles twice. I buy most of my stocking stuffers from the drugstore, so I’ll use my card at Rexall. Baking supplies can be purchased from Metro, and the number one item on most kids’ holiday lists…the elusive Rainbow Loom…can be found at Michael’s. Visit the American Express homepage for a full list of places to shop and earn reward miles faster!
As we get closer to the holiday season, you’ll be glad to shop airmilesshops.ca to avoid busy stores, and shop the best merchandise from Amex AIR MILES Sponsors.
Cardmembers also get access to exclusive benefits like Front Of The Line… access to some of the hottest concerts, shows and events often before they’re available to the general public!
Finally, there are all sorts of great ways to collect Bonus reward miles, especially around the holiday season. Visit the American Express Facebook page to learn more and take advantage of offers. For example, make a purchase at airmilesshops.ca from November 12 – 19, 2013 with your Amex AIR MILES Card and earn 125 bonus reward miles.

I just can’t bring myself to do any of it until after my birthday, which is a month before Christmas Eve. Otherwise I’m just sharing the birthday… and I’m fiercely jealous about my own b-day shenanigans to share… even with Jesus. *snort*

I debate this with my husband all the time. I argue the day after the pumpkin goes in the compost is the day to start decorating for Christmas- and that is far too early for him! The debate continues this year…
