Sounds dramatic right? It’s not really. But it’s necessary.
I have to hit reset. Reset on my health and on my fitness.
Let’s go back a year and a half or so ago. Middle of April, 2012. I’d had it. My health was crapping out. I was tired all the time. I felt like ass. I was so sick of it. So I hit up a naturopath, changed my diet and started exercising. And it was great!
Then this summer I did the triathalon. And it was fun. I loved it. I was in the best shape of my life.
But since I finished? I STALLED. Like really stalled. I fell off the bagel wagon. I’ve eaten more chips than … um is there an analogy for that? I stopped biking. I swam maybe once a week and I’ve run three times since August.
And. My skin is gross. I feel hideous. I’m not sleeping as well. I’ve been sick for weeks. And grumpy. So so incredibly grumpy.
So on the weekend, I hit reset. I went grocery shopping. I planned out our meals. I brought breakfast and lunch for work. I swam and I biked. I ate chips and dip at book club…BUT…that’s where I’m supposed to!
I know it’s been all of two days but I already feel better. I feel in control. And oh yes, control makes me happy.
And like a year and a half ago, I had to write this down, hit publish and share it. Because then I have to stick to it.
Oh god bagels I will miss you.
*I’m DYING to insert a Rob Ford joke here but it’s just too damn easy.*

It’s so funny I’m reading this tonight because I’m going through the exact same thing right now. I was so healthy all summer and then last month, I hit a wall made of sweet chili heat Doritoes. This past weekend I got sick and tired of being sick and tired and did exactly as you did. My biggest problem today? Too much energy!

it’s all a journey and there’s always detours in the travels.

Good for you, Sara! I find health and nutrition are something I need to constantly be re-evaluating and I’m always amazed how FAST all of my old, unhealthy habits can creep back in. Yay for taking back control where you can…you will reach those new goals just like you did last time!
