Lately I’ve been spending a lot of time at IKEA picking up and returning stuff for our second floor renovation. Rather than wasting time on the weekend, I’ve been going during the week with LJ in tow. You may remember I went a few weeks ago and had a bit of a break down in the nursing room. I left bleary eyed and was completely out of it. So, last week I went back apprehensively to buy shelves for our PAX wardrobes (they’re 15% off until the end of September BTW) and I was shocked by how amazing IKEA’s customer service is. My visit was such a positive experience that I just have to write about it read: IKEA’s PR people had no influence on this post.
So, why is it so great?
First let’s start with the nursing room. I’ve been in many nursing rooms over the years and the one at IKEA is superior. They have a private little pod in the room so you can quietly and discreetly feed without being on display. The pod is outfitted with a comfortable chair, a shelf to rest whatever you need on, a little lamp just in case you want to turn off the overhead lights and a little table with chairs just in case you have another little one with you. When you’re finished nursing they have little change table available with change mats and a container of diapers just in case you forgot yours (genius!) – a box of wipes would be helpful if they really wanted to set the bar high. They also have a sink and big mirror so you can wash your hands after changing the nasty diaper and then check yourself out. It’s a real pleasure to hang out in there with tunes playing over head.
Now to move on to their amazing customer service. Since I was picking up the PAX shelves (they weigh at least 30 lbs each) I needed help. So they have guys who will do that for you. It was like borrow-a-husband. I walked around with this guy as I pushed LJ in the stroller and told him what I needed to get and he loaded up the cart. He left me at checkout where I paid for everything and then another “husband” arrived to bring everything to my car and load it. It was ah-mazing!
I went it feeling so stressed and left stress-free. So if you’ve got stuff to buy and you’re solo with your babe people are there to help you. Nix the crowds on the weekends and go mid-week with borrow-a-husband.
See you at IKEA!

So appealing. If such kind of services will be provided in shopping centers then every one would love to go for shopping. If you are planning for shopping then please check out http://www.macirculaire.com/flyer/ for store flyers.
