Wow. What a whirlwind! A week ago today I was getting ready to board an airplane to come out and visit family in the Toronto area, and here I am now after a week of great times, and no more than 2 nights in any one bed! And now I’m waiting for my father-in-law to pick up me and my 2 girls for another "sleepover" in the fourth house we’ll have stayed in during our 8-day junket. I feel like I’ve been put through the spin cycle in the washing machine. But the girls? They love it! All the action, the non-stop visiting and late bedtimes, all the special attention and presents and free smarties from Aunt Barb…it’s kid heaven.
We’ve swum in a grand total of four pools, two hot tubs and one lake. We’ve done Canada’s Wonderland from opening until dinnertime. We’ve been to the CN Tower twice (but only up once). And my kids ‘did’ the Zoo with a saintly uncle while I was starring in this month’s Women’s Intuition series video. We’ve been to BBQs and soccer games and – of course – an after-hours walk-in clinic and a 24-hour pharmacy. I am traveling with young children, after all.
In short, it’s been a long week!
A week of reunions and long drives and little sleep. A week where, surprisingly, I managed to eat only one meal in a restaurant. That’s one of the benefits of staying with family, I guess…a series of good home-cooked hospitality. Normally I’d say that traveling makes for bad eating choices, and I think generally it does. But somehow we managed to luck-out this time around. I won’t say that I didn’t overdo it a bit here and there…Mom’s homemade pizza and Margot’s awesome angus burgers aren’t to be missed, after all! But all in all I managed to keep things under control and relatively healthy.
But you know, I’ve got a flight ahead of me…better stock up on munchies for that!

That IS a busy trip! I can’t shake the feeling while I’m travelling that travelling calories magically don’t “count.”

Wow! It was a whirlwind! The biggest challenge with eating on vacation is portion control. I always have a tendancy to PIG OUT!

Kath, I wish I could take credit for the Angus burgers but alas they are PC. My secret is out!
I love the pics of the kids at the CN tower. No fear!!
