Actually, the Camera Adds 10 lbs

August 15, 2007 by Jen

Or more.

Seriously.

I know this because I spent roughly four hours this morning filming the next video in the Women’s Intuition series for urbanmoms.ca and Schick Intuition. Yes, that’s right…four hours of filming for a seven-minute video. It does take that long! And also, you have to stand really, really close to the person you’re on camera with. I mean really close. After the first series of shots my costar Susan (yes, fitness expert Susan of Ask urbanmoms.ca fame) and I both took a shot of Listerine fresh breath spray!

Which leads nicely into my next point. Yes, I am brave/foolish enough to get in front of a TV camera — which everyone knows makes you look at least ten pounds heavier (if not twenty, really 25, if we’re being truly honest here) — beside urbanmoms.ca’s own fitness expert, the super-buff Susan. Crazy? Maybe. Stupid? Certainly!

A-ny-way…you guys don’t care how fat I looked on camera this morning. At least I hope you don’t – tell me you don’t – please? What I wanted to share with you was how much FUN I had today out there in the fresh air working out with Susan. We did three sets of exercises: core (you know, two pregnancies and a 50 lb weight loss will leave you a little…shall we say saggy…around the torso), arms and lower body. We didn’t go to a gym and we didn’t use a single piece of fitness equipment. We did it all outdoors at the park, using the ground to lie on, a park bench for dips, pushups and squats, and a set of stairs for step ups and some punishing stair-running (cardio). Already I’m sore in muscles I didn’t even know I used, and I’m also super motivated to do it again. Yes, really!

And in addition to my newly-found motivation and workout smarts, I had a great time! Of course, it’s always great to see Jen :), and it was wonderful to meet Susan and get to know her better. Then there was the creative team from Schick and Boom Marketing, and super-cameraman/director Jesse.

Top it all off with a delicious lunch in the company of Katie (Style File), Ali (Fabulous), Haley (Cheaty’s Celebrity Gossip & Haley’s Pregnancy Blog) as well as Haley’s cutie-patootie daughter and Jen, and you have the makings of a pretty great day.

Just remember, when you watch the video later this month: the camera adds 10 lbs!

You were amazing, Kath! And a great sport. It was hard work…WAY more reps than you would have to do if you were really training with Susan! And, you look amazing!!

Hi you! I know from these photos exactly where you were in T.O. – funny! 🙂 Looks like you had a great time working out – glad to see the weather held, and that you’ve learned some new moves to spice-up your exercise routine! Hope you all enjoy the rest of your trip and visits with family.
    xoxo Karri
