over the weekend, i came to the startling realization that i have a full-fledged toddler on my hands.
she walks! boy does she ever. she walks and walks and walks. and runs. she’s faster than i, and i’m struggling to keep up. when she was crawling, i still had the upper hand. i have this no more. she’s in charge.
she talks! her vocabulary has just exploded in the past month. seriously, it’s out of control. the words. she just keeps adding more and more words to her repertoire. "basement" "downstairs" "cream cheese" and she’s putting sentences together. and i’m not just talking about the "hi mamas" and the "daddy book". on saturday, she shocked my friend by pulling out a "don’t want that!" and all "all finished!" (i can’t take credit for that one, that one came from my nanny.)
she has tantrums! she’s learned to use her "NO!" no to going to bed. no to having her diaper changed. no to putting her hat on. no to us putting the gates up. no. no. no. yes, yes, she’s exercising her independence. and it’s freakin’ adorable when she says it. but when do babies learn the value of "YES!"
she knows what she wants! and more importantly, what she doesn’t want. she knows she wants to eat pasta. by herself. on the floor.
she can use a crayon to color! and she’s losing all her baby fat! and she’s getting more hair (finally)! and teeth! She can feed her baby and give her a bottle!
where did my baby go??

Hmm maybe it’s time for another bambino??
Jk…my babe is almost 4 months, and what a relief to be out of the newborn stage. That was not fun!
How soon we forget…

Wow! That seems like forever ago and the worst part is, it keeps happening! They grow and change and turn into little people and you can’t do a damn thing to stop it. But, this is the job we signed up for and, as hard as it is, these big leaps mean you are doing great at this job of mom!

the walking really makes a huge difference. she’s such a ‘little girl’ now. we saw some friends over the weekend who saw her a couple weeks ago and said that she’s grown leaps and bounds over the last few weeks!

If you’re missing your baby, come visit mine. She has TONS of hair, but, since not fully walking yet, tons of chub. But, tons of temper tantrums. She’s throwing one right now. In her crib. Because she’s too tired to realize she’s tired….The monkey says “I want that” (I wandat) and “What’s that” (wazzat)….those are her full sentences. It’s such an adorable time. 🙂 But, the monkey is very much still a baby — the walking makes a huge difference….She’s getting there! Probably standing in her crib right now….

Adorable – I am a bit sad too, now that my baby is nearly 2, boohoo. And YES, they do learn NO real early on – my daughter doesn’t have a big vocabulary (in fact she doesn’t talk much at all :((, but she certainly can say NO!).
