it’s now an official title. because i said so. and i make the rules.
Aura outdoes herself every year. The food. The table. The games. (yes, we play games. Thanksgiving games, no less!).
This year, in particular, i was thoroughly impressed, because she was hosting ALONE for the first 3/4 of the night. her other half was in Detroit, at the Detroit/Miami football game. and he came home all decked out.
granted, this year she had her parents and ALL her grandparents there too…which, i must say, changed the dynamic just a wee bit, but, was still just as much fun as always.
i indulged, and allowed myself to eat the foods i wanted to – even though Shana was so sweet and make a sugar-free, phase two, south beach-friendly sweet potato pie – i went for the real stuff and had both a piece of sweet potato pie AND pumpkin pie. and it was delicious. i’m still smiling just thinking about it. mmm…sweet potato pie (must.wipe.drool.off.chin)
everyone got downright competitive during the games. It felt like we were on Survivor…especially since the final round was all about finishing a puzzle the fastest. and like Brian on Survivor, i can do puzzles (only i’m not an ass).
but, naturally, it was the Martells who took home the first-place prize! and what did we win? the most American gift of all:
all of the usual suspects were there…with the exception of Gabby (gabbie?) who was at a concert and forced her husband to come solo. and Aaron and Adrienne, who were celebrating their Thanksgiving on actual American soil.
notice there’s no picture of us. Shana promised that it was a good one. and didn’t need to take more than one shot. but once i uploaded it, it was god-awful. it was most-definitely not-safe-for-the-internet.

Sounds like FUN!!! Do you find that it’s, like, SO hard to get back on the diet, though, when you “cheat.” (Hmmm…”cheat” — I’m liking that word for some reason…).
Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!
