of pants and purses

what kind of relationship do you have with your clothing?

are you a) a person who has tons and tons and tons of clothing, all bought on sale, and you brag to all your friends how much of a bargain each article was or are you b) more the type that buys expensive, great quality clothing, but can only afford to buy a few staples?

I think i’m much more an of a. but i SOOO want to be a b. I have tons of clothes. i have shirts and skirts and suits and pants and shorts and t-shirts and sweaters and turtlenecks and sweatshirts and cardigans. I have – if i had to venture a guess – probably close to 50 black shirts – which, i think, is probably a lot.

i love to shop. but i also love a bargain. i just can’t resist. If my stepmom buys me a gorgeous cashmere sweater from jcrew for Chrismukah, chances are good that i will take it back. so i can buy two merino sweaters, and still have money left over. why would i keep the one sweater if i can have two? I want the citizens of humanity jeans…but if i buy the Guess ones, i can buy two pairs. and a shirt, too. i’ll pass on the lululemon tank for three suzy shier workout tanks. i have no boobs…therefore i don’t need much support. and this way, i have three tops to choose from and i won’t have to freak out when one’s in the laundry.

but i’m learning. i’m learning to embrace the cashmere. the designer jean. the good quality lululemon tank.

there’s one area, though, that i’ve always gone for quality over quanity. i’ve never been much of a purse person (and since i’ve had kids, i’ve pretty much used my diaper bag more than anything else – but it IS petunia pickle bottom). and i have no idea how to buy them for myself. each year, i get a coach purse for Chrismukah. it’s always black or brown, so i know they’ll go with anything. basic.

this year, i got three…so imagine my surprise when i came to realize that i AM a purse person….because good god they sure are pretty.

from my sister. the perfect secret santa gift. i hope she gets me again next year!

from Italy. le torri. i don’t know what that is…but it’s italian. and it’s so pretty.

song of the day: Bicycle Bicycle You are my Bicycle by Be Your Own Pet.

video of the day: yikes. Tony Romo fumbling the ball. if any of you were watching the cowboys/seahawks game…of if you’ve read any newspaper…you know what i’m talking about. this was a sad, sad day for Mr. Romo. LACES OUT, Ray Finkle! 🙂

come on over and say hi at Cheaper Than Therapy today. my baby is peeing on the floor. deliberately. it’s all sorts of good times over there.

Hey Ali – love the purses. I am SOOO a handbag person, sigh – I keep ’em all – I still have a really nice Roots bag from 1998 which is out of style but refuse to throw out!!
Um, re clothes – well I would love be more of a b) but in reality, probably more of a hybrid a)/b) – I have bought casual clothes in Kmart just for bumming around and some cheap trendy shoes, which I know won’t last but on the whole, I generally only buy good stuff. Having said that, the shopping is SHIT here in Oz so I don’t buy a lot of “quality” here, stock when I am back in Canada.
I just did the big “purge” and found that I had 23 black t-shirts of various styles (short sleeve, long sleeve, bodysuit, crewneck, v-neck, boatneck, get the drift?).
I also 19 pairs of black shoes – 16 of which are from Canada or the U.S. and refuse to part with (even though my feet have gone weird, wide and flat since babies).
Re nappy bag – I had a small square Oroton nappy bag – teddy bears just didn’t do it for me LOL.
BTW, your family has excellent taste – I would never get anything that nice from anyone in mine – but might get it from my BFF in Toronto!

Love all the purses but the second one from Italy has to be my fave. It’s so cute! I am totally an a person. I bargain shop everywhere and always looking for a steal. I drive my sister crazy because I won’t buy anything unless it’s on sale (with regard to clothes). I know the second I buy something not on sale it will be next week and then I’ll kick myself. 🙂

I am definitely an A. However I too am learning. Some things are worth spending money on – a good bra, a pair of designer jeans, lululemons. Especially with post-baby body!
I LOVE your purses! All of them are so cute! You’re a lucky girl 😉

Suzy Shier? Tell me you don’t shop there. I refuse to step foot in there. Sorry if I offended anyone….LOVE the purses.
