what’s your opinion on sick days? do you ever call in sick even though you are perfectly healthy? have you ever gotten caught?
I have never. and i couldn’t ever. it’s not that i wouldn’t want to. the idea of it is quite appealing, actually. i just don’t have the balls. i’d be way too afraid that someone would know. someone would find out. i DO fancy myself a pretty good liar (yes, i have many talents…) and could fake it like the best of ’em. it would certainly seem believable. i would just have visions of myself standing in line at starbucks and walking right into my boss. "ah…yes…i’m sick…(fake cough)…i really am (fake cough)" or i would be too afraid that someone who knew the truth would slip. there are just far too many variables.
i’d rather just take the vacation days.
which is what i’m doing. on thursday and friday.
when i go to New York City.
on an all expenses paid trip. to stay in this hotel. and eat like a cow. and shop like a madman.
and that’s not even the best part.
NO KIDS.
yes. we are going to new york for 4 1/2 days without any of our children. i’m going on an airplane and won’t have to worry about folding up a stroller to fit through the xray machine. I can go in a taxi and not have to worry about a carseat. i can go into a department store and not have to worry about losing a child. i can sit at a restaurant and not have to cut up someone’s food (well…at least i hope not!) i can…dare i say it…sleep in!
it’s been a long time, people. i need some help. any suggestions? the husband and i have a free day on thursday before my parents show up. we are trying to figure out what to do. any MUST-SEE things in New York that we have to do? museums? galleries? shows? stores that we must hit?
song of the day: Fire by Jimi Hendrix. i can’t find a good copy online. cripes. i’m looking…might add one in later today…
video of the day: I’m so excited for the new season of American Idol…and for many more weeks ot watching Paula Abdul totally toasted. he…check this video out:

If you’re in NY and want good knock off purses, check out Canal St, shopowners there will take you into their stores behind fake walls where all the good stuff is, the stuff in the actual store out front is crap, behind the wall, even down the store’s stairwell and we even went up to one lady’s apt where she had a wad of cash in her hand and Coach bags filled up the entire room, and they were good knock offs!

I couldn’t watch that whole video clip. I had to turn it off. It’s just…wrong.
Have FUN in NYC! Dayum, girl! I’m a bit jealous over here — not at the NYC part, but at the NO KIDS part. LOL!
And no. I could never call in sick when I wasn’t really sick. My conscience is way, way too big.

That video is SHOCKING!!!!!!!! She totally seemed like she was on coke — the sniffling, the slurring, the out-of-it-ness. For the record, I personally have never tried cocaine, but THAT is exactly how I imagine a person on coke to be. UNREAL!
Have an awesome time in New York! If you see Howard Stern, tell him I LOVE HIM! 😉

OMG! That video is BRU-TAL! I had to turn it off I was so embarassed for her. This is what fame gets you…careful what you wish for, eh?!
I have definitely taken some “mental health” days but really only in my younger years. It just didn’t matter that much I guess.
As for NY…LOVE! You sould go and see a show…maybe off Broadway. I am not sure what is there now but I loved off Broadway as it has a totally different energy. Great restaurants in NY…one right in Time Square that I can’t think of now…I’ll email you if I remember. Can’t wait to see your post/posts on it! Do sleep in, though…and think of the rest of us as you crawl out of bed at 10am.

As for sick days, yep, I have used them for things other than being sick…….in my circle we call those “mental health days” but this is a small town, so one has to be careful not to be seen by the boss.
As for the video…..I was just waiting for her to say, “I love you, man…I really mean it, I love YOU!!!” She was so totally on SOMETHING!!

or just email me and I can send you a word doc of my trip (might be easier than trying to search my blogger blog.)

I could never use sick days because I know karma would just kick me in the ass for it – like I would get Norwalk the day after or something.
Anyway, we just did NY up like major tourists in November – I blogged about it in detail so check it out.

I used a sick day once because I was out of vacation time and needed to be out of town on a Monday for a wedding. And I really didn’t want to sacrifice a day’s pay if I could help it. So I made it known that I was leaving town the previous friday, then called in Monday morning reporting that I was having “car troubles” and wouldn’t be able to make it back home until much later that day and would need to use a sick day. Worked like a charm.

When I was younger I would call in sick to jet off somewhere for the weekend. It was incredibly exciting. I think everyone at work knew what I was doing because I always came back very happy.
