How would you introduce colour and texture to a sleek white kitchen?
I am not really a kitchen kind of person. I don’t love to cook (although eating is extremely pleasurable) and baking is not in my repertoire. Plus, for the last 12 years+ our kitchen has been my least favourite room in our house; small, dark and cramped, I just didn’t like being in there. We still had the original kitchen cupboards from when the house was built in the 1920s and had thrown together some decent appliances and cheap, fresh counter tops when we moved in but it was all temporary and felt that way.
Because of the state of this space we rarely entertained. It was closed and small and not very functional. This will definitely be a huge consideration as we continue to plan the new space.
So, considering my disinterest in kitchens in general, I am really surprised at how much effort and energy I am putting into the design of our kitchen during our renovation. There are so many options! Now with the open concept design, our kitchen will be the hub of the main floor. Every other space will be built around it so it plays an important role.
Whirlpool redefines a classic motif with White Ice, showing simplicity never goes out of style.
After much looking and dreaming we have decided to go with a fully white kitchen with our hardwood floors. So, when Whirlpool Canada approached us with a partnership opportunity with their newly launched White Ice appliance suite I literally squealed! The sleek and modern design of White Ice is a perfect fit for our minimalist approach to the space. Accented with soft hints of stainless, this exclusive collection includes intuitive technology and refined style that will add beauty to any home. The White Ice Collection line includes refrigerators, wall ovens, ranges, microwaves, cooktops and dishwashers.
So, with white is our blank canvas, we have so many opportunities to use texture and colour as accents. Do you have any creative suggestions on how we could introduce colour to our sleek, white kitchen design?

I could be very happy with those appliances. White is always in. A bright sunshiny yellow or soft green. I wish you luck.

Your small appliances could be the added pop of colour whether in blue, red, black or stainless. Accessories such as your serving utensils and dish towels, mats etc can also add a pop of colour.

i feel your pain. i also have been dreaming of a new kitchen since we moved into our 1920’s house 🙂 over the past 10 years and after sooooo many hours, days, and probably weeks of debating what design and colors i would like i’ve got it down to white appliances, baseboards & crown molding. yellow as my main color as my mom was a firm believer that it is the only color for a kitchen as it brings in warmth and happiness. then finally some blue accents, so i suppose a type of modern cape cod look. well back to dreaming and good luck with your reno’s can’t wait to see the final results 🙂
