Celine looked warm and earthy. Did you get that? EARTHY! WARM! CELINE!!! The fact that SHE accomplished warm and earthy is a TRUE COUP to her and her designer. KUDOS. Love the colour (I realize I’m probably alone in that love, but whatevs).
Naomi Watts looked GORJ in this Escada gown. And, whad’ya know? She’s preggers! Preggers and GLOWING in this divine, warm yellow hue…. LOVES IT.

Talk about age-appropriate! Like Abigail Breslin, Helen Mirren dressed beautifully for her age in this tasteful-yet-still-sexy elegant gown. The picture of ELEGANCE.

Another interesting colour choice! Warm, earthy…. I wasn’t sure about this dress when Gwyneth walked along the red carpet, but in the pictures it looks FAB! Check it. I can’t get over the colour. It’s perfect for her. She glows. AND, kudos to the designer, Gwyneth looks toned and lifted!

What a beautiful and unexpected accent. The earrings were so golden-sparkly, too. I couldn’t take my eyes off them when she was presenting. Simply divine. Honestly, bottom line, if you can wear this colour, and look good in it? I say go for it. Way to go, Kate.
The best thing about this dress is the colour — it totally brings out her eyes! But, she looks awkward and out-of-place in it, a little stiff. But, that might not be the dress’s fault.

OSTRICH!!! I hated this dress. Maybe because I find Penelope Cruz annoying. Not sure. But, all I could think of was OSTRICH whenever I saw it. Too much dress. Nice-ish as a comforter or couch blanket…. But as a dress? Not so much.

This was just aiight for me on Maggie Gyllenhaal. I like the asymmetrical neckline, sorta like the blue and black. But, the bottom wrecks it for me. Reminds me of one of those British guard hats. Know the ones I’m talking about? Here:

KATIE HOLMES IS BRAINWASHED
Here they are at the Vanity Fair after-Oscars party. Apparently, Katie was like a total zombie at the party. Everyone’s talking about it. She didn’t say a word unless prompted by Tom. She refused to take a picture without her way-shorter hubby — until he insisted that she do it. She followed him around subserviently the entire time, and stood silently while Tom yacked away with others — never introducing his wife. Weeeeeeiiiirrrd.

BRIT’S MOM AND K-FED REACH AGREEMENT
Kevin has agreed to let Lynne Spears help with the kids. Good. He’s also threatened that if Britney does not complete her stay at rehab, she won’t have a chance getting custody of them. Lynne and K-Fed are in the process of interviewing new nannies for the boyz, as well. So, Gorgeouses, they’re being well taken care of. Who’d have thought it’d take K-Fed to straighten her out…? Sad sad sad. I love Sean Preston Federline….

So, here are some Oscar-inspired tips for us moms for our own red carpet event – the upcoming urbanmoms Moms Night Out. No, you won’t need a ball gown, but if you are in the market for a new top to dress up a great pair of black pants or jeans, look for:
Hot colours – metallics, blue, green and brown. Hot pink or red, if you’re feeling bold.
Necklines – the hot new halter has a high neck – see Nicole and Portia above – love it! Plunging v-necks always make a momma look hot (just make sure you have a great bra too.) Same goes for the strapless look.
Adornments – well, we might not have quite the jewellry collection of these stars – but check out how they wear their accessories – just one or two stunning pieces to accent the dress (apart from Meryl – do not copy Meryl’s lead!!) There might be a few too many ruffles and a lot of lace on some of these gowns – but there are some great shirts and tops out there right now with a little lace or just right ruffles that make them perfect for dressing up for a moms night on the town.

i’m a fan of the ostrich dress. can’t say why. i think you’re right on about nicole. i didn’t like cate’s though, i think it makes her look like a dolphin, and again, agree about jana.
i hope britney makes her way out of her troubles. i have to say, though, a tiny part of me is relieved she’s having them: it’s like some essential woman inside of her is railing against the stepford popstar. i hope, on the other side of her troubles, she emerges stronger.
Not a fan of Daniel Craig at.all. Jen has bigass ears, but she seems to be a GREAT mom – yea for her!! Seriously…

I have NEVER been a Britney fan, but for the sake of her kids, I hope she’s getting the help she needs. And thanktheLORD Fed-Ex is seemingly ‘norm’…and hopefully her mom is, too…..I mean come on – she had to push Brit around to be a star. Hopefully she’s learned a lesson & isn’t seeing $$ in those babies? She’s not Lindsey’s mom…..so there’s hope!
