Canadian comedian and political satirist, Mary Walsh, is in Toronto now performing her latest one-woman show, DANCING WITH RAGE. As the finale of the highly successful Off Mirvish series, this show completes the entertaining, thought-provoking and diverse offerings breathing fresh air into the Toronto theatre scene.
Mary Walsh’s DANCING WITH RAGE features some of her most unforgettable television personas including Marg Delahunty famous for squeezing herself into predicaments with politicians in no-holds barred fashion. Literally. You’ll see.
While she tells the story of a ‘girl who lived next door to her family’ Walsh injects some of her most memorable “in-your-face” television moments with politicians that leaves the audience in stitches and lots of “oh I remember when she did that” hysterics.
Clever she is. Her show also takes humorous jabs at what society deems important.
“We’ve come very far, oh yes,” says Walsh. “International Women’s Day is Friday. Yes, women get one day. While the California Walnut gets one week of recognition. Of course, nuts get all the attention. Yes, indeed, we’ve come along way.”
Nothing will stop her. Not Steven Harper (is he really her love child?). Not Rogers. And certainly not Macular Degeneration. Walsh was diagnosed with the disease that affects more than a million Canadians. She has been treated by undergoing surgery and restorative treatment. This Princess Warrior charges on!
DANCING WITH RAGE is on stage until March 24th
