It’s no surprise that TAP DOGS has taken live theatre by storm. With it’s edgy, hard-rock feel, creator and choreographer Dein Perry has made tap cool. VERY COOL!
Set on a stage built to resemble a construction site in the steel worker town of Newcastle, just north of Sydney, Australia, the 8 member team (6 dancers and 2 musicians) dances in their fitted Blundstones aka “Blunnies” (of course) on water, through scaffolding and upside down…yes, you’ll see how.
At last night’s opening in Toronto, the crowd responded whole-heartedly to the dance troupe lead by Anthony Russo with his uber cool attitude and incredible footwork. They clearly have proving that the art of tap can be raw and exhilarating. With the use of props and a shifting stage pieces, TAP DOGS takes the art to a whole different level and challenges. You’ll see. And there’s no dialogue – only pure talent and a lot fun!
The international, 11 award-winning production has danced its way across North America, Asia, Australia and Europe. It has been seen by over 11 million people world-wide in over 330 cities.
TAP DOGS is making hearts pound in Toronto for a short run before moving on. I suggest aiming for seats in the first two rows considered the “poncho seats”. So much fun!
