Often when we travel we stick with what we know – relaxing on a beach, specific amusement parks or cities we love. The problem with this is we never get to experience what else is out there and we just might be missing something truly amazing.
The Kissimmee area of Florida really has a lot to offer beyond the theme parks.
Recently I was in Kissimmee, Florida, best known as a gateway to the ever popular Disney World. I have been in and around Kissimmee many, many times but have never taken the time to explore beyond the Magic Kingdom. On this trip I had the opportunity to see more of the area and was surprised to discover that this part of Florida actually has a ton to offer. The trip was full of adventure and even a few major firsts.
Thanks to our wonderful guide at Gatorland, Tim, who also happens to be an inspiring human being I got to feed a 100 year old turtle and wrangle an alligator! On our trip to Fun Spot USA I plummeted 300 feet on the world’s tallest Sky Coaster. I also checked something off my bucket list when I got to soar over 2000 feet in a balloon with Orlando Balloon Adventures and watch the sunrise. Breathtaking! Finally, another first, air boating with Boggy Creek Air Boats where we spotted a baby alligator as we swooshed in and out of the bog where other boats are unable to go. What a rush!
Check out some of my pictures below and you’ll see these firsts for yourself.
Have you ever been on a trip where the location offered more than you imagined? More to come on my trip to Kissimmee. We had some amazing meals and accommodation everyone needs to hear about!
