I am no fan of fall.
In fact, autumn is my least favourite season.
I’ll take a muggy summer day over a crisp fall day.
I’ll take vibrant green trees over half naked crunchy trees.
I’ll take a Tim’s Ice Capp over a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice latte. (Seriously – am I the only person who thinks these are gross?)
I’ll take flip flops over boots.
When I was little I always felt like autumn was dirty. Everything is dying – the flowers, the leaves, the grass.
Lawns covered in dry, dead leaves and piles of them gathered by curbs on the road make the neighbourhood seem messy and dirty. Especially when it rains. I just find it so dismal. Yuck.
Now that I have this stupid frog phobia, I think that every rolling leaf is a frog coming after me and I’m super anxious all the time.
I was shocked when I came across this as I walked to get the mail last month (last month being August…)
There is so much about fall that I don’t like. I’m going to really try to find some things about this season that I don’t hate.
I’ll start with the fact that I like sweaters. And cardigans. I like those and have plenty of them. So sweater weather is ok, I guess. What else…?
- I prefer flip flops with my jeans over shoes or boots, but I have some pretty kick ass custom Chucks, so there’s that…that’s a pretty cool option to pair with any type of jean – skinny, boyfriend, bootcut.
- Shorter days. That means earlier nights. Kids aren’t playing in the street until 9pm. Can’t complain about that.
- Halloween is approaching. Candy. ‘Nuff said.
- If you shop at Coscto, Christmas is approaching. Christmas is my favourite thing of all time.
- I’ve switched from refreshing Ice Capps to delicious Cafe Mochas.
- Now that I’m not wearing shorts every day, I don’t have to shave my legs
at allas often. - Where we live has some of the most amazing colours in the fall with the changing leaves (I just wish they didn’t leave such a mess), so visually (for a few weeks) it is stunning.
That’s a pretty good start. Autumn might not be that bad after all…
Gimme more reasons to embrace this season. What’s your favourite thing about fall?

I’m SO with you. Spring and summer are my time – fall only makes me painfully aware that winter is coming and there is little I hate as much as winter. And pumpkin stuff is ALL gross, not to mention cranberry with turkey – what is that about? And needing toe-cramping tights with skirts rather than the freedom of bare legs annoys me.
But I will give it that fall has gorgeous colours, and corduroy, and sweaters, and shrugging on my favourite battered old leather jacket. But when I need a parka? Don’t even ask me.

Flip flops, totally. Pumpkin Spice Lattes = gross. I’m with you lady. I want to be wearing as little as possible (also NO SOCKS!), and fall necessitates more laundry than I ever feel like doing.

I dig fall fashion pretty hard… because boots. And leather. And suede. And feathers. And rhinestones. And wool. Delicious, all. (But NOT the pumpkin lattes – I am WITH YOU, sistah. No thanks!!)
