If there is one thing we love more than Melissa McCarthy in Bridesmaids/The Heat/Gilmore Girls/pretty much anything she’s ever been in, it’s her amazing new fashion line that comes with a great message for women everywhere—love yourself!
Literally the only thing that can make all this news better is finding out how her two daughters, Vivian, 8, and Georgette, 5, helped shape the new line of fashion forward styles for all sizes.
It seems McCarthy’s daughters each have their very own unique sense of style and it just might be better than moms.
“My daughters have their own sense of style, which is a thousand times better than having mine,” McCarthy told PEOPLE magazine. “Georgie is very specific in what she wears. Vivie can be more flexible, but she’s said to me on several occasions, ‘That’s my style, Mama.’ I can tell when she wears something and feels good in it.”
And that is how it came about that Vivian actually helped her mom design one of the pieces in her new collection.
“My daughter Vivie drew that cat last year say ‘Le Meow’. Because, she explained, ‘everyone should have a fancy cat,” said McCarthy. “I can’t even think of what I’ll do when I see someone on the street wearing it. And when Vivie sees it? I’d better be standing next to her to watch her little heart fill up.”
McCarthy also talked about letting her girls express themselves through fashion, as long as it doesn’t become a safety issue.
“For me it’s like: As long as you’re not going to the park in a long skirt that you’re going to trip and all on, you go for it.”
She goes on to explain why she’d support her daughters fashion choices—no matter how whacky or off-the-wall they may seem. “I just think you’re going to have so many people saying, ‘You shouldn’t, you can’t, that’s not okay,’ that there’s no way I’m going to be one of those people. I’m gonna help fight that as much as I can.”
