For years I have been doing what all mother’s have done everywhere- On the first day of school I have taken pictures of my children on our doorstep or front lawn on their way to a new year of school.
I have also always gone in to wake them up with (and they have told me they love this)
“Good morning my grade 1”
and then suddenly (and all of you with grade one’s will not believe it to be true but I promise it is) it became
“Good morning my grade 12”
This morning I went into my oldest daughter’s room and said ” Good morning, my working girl”
She has, as some of you know, just finished her first year studying to be a teacher at Queen’s University. And she is doing her two week placement at the school she went to and the one her sister is presently at.
So off they went with their lunchbags- one to work, one to school. Two sisters, each other’s best friend and the best thing that ever happened to me.
It was, on this perfect spring morning, a perfect moment.
“mom, please stop taking pictures”
