sweetness of summer

In the other room I hear my youngest practicing the ukelele

and singing
the air is hot and heavy
there is a faint smell of barbeque and fresh cut grass
I can hear the crickets
and the birds loudly telling their stories
I go down to the water to take a skinny dip
and the moon is a full and orange balloon and rising quickly from behind the trees to dance on the still water
this is summer
