The Much Music Video Awards were on last night. Fans came out in the torrential rainstorm to watch their favorites perform (Flo Rida was there to sing "Low", as were the New Kids on the Block, performing for the first time in Canada in over 13 years), present (Chace Crawford was there. and Brody Jenner. And Rainn Wilson was there, with, of course, some lovely it’s rainning jokes..), and win (Hedley, whose lead singer Jacob Hoggard is of Canadian Idol fame…he placed 3rd in the 4th season of the show, won BIG. Rihanna, as predicted, took home best international video artist for
Don’t Stop The Music.)
but the REAL party began the night before the MMVAs – at the PUMA Rockstar Hotel at The Gladstone Hotel.
and i was there, covering both the red carpet and the party inside.
(here’s me, looking all professional, waiting for the fun to begin. Now, seeing as a didn’t have a giant SLR camera, or a microphone and a cameraman, i assumed that i wouldn’t be doing much…but boy was i WRONG)
Canadian musicians and celebrities? ARE AWESOME. they took pity on me and my point-and-shoot camera and all came over to talk. Pierre-Marc Hamelin of Mobile was particularly awesome and talked to me for a good five minutes about his band and their new song, "The Killer" i didnt think that was going to happen.
i didn’t think i’d be talking to IllScarlett about Saved By the Bell and how much we love Zack Morris.
and then my little point and shoot camera died. (you can, of course, see the rest of the flickr set here)
minutes before Rainn Wilson, of The Office fame, ran by on the red carpet. and minutes before Jordan Knight and Joey McIntyre, of New Kids on the Block fame, came by and sang a little Marvin Gaye for all of us.
and then we went inside…where the drinks were flowing and the swag was flying…and celebrities were everywhere.
PUMA was there, showcasing new shoes from their new Runway shoe line. and giving a special, exclusive fashion show with their interpretive dancers. AMAZING.
Other sponsors of the event included Fido, Heineken, Xbox 360, Dose.ca, E!, Exclaim! and Resource Integrated
